TIGER WOODS

Throughout the late 1990s and the great percentage of the following decade, Tiger Woods
was not only at the top of the golf world, he was arguably the greatest and most famous athlete
on the planet. His body, particularly his back, didn't cooperate heading into the 2010s
as he eventually fell to No. 1,199 in the World Golf Rankings at the end of 2017.
He had played in zero tournaments in 2016 and only one in '17. But Woods
is often at his best when everything is stacked against him. He fought hard
on and off the course to get healthy and returned to the Tour on a full-time basis in 2018.
By the middle of that year he had cracked the top 200, and when he captured the 2018 Tour
Championship with a dramatic victory, he was ranked 13th in the world. Woods had 14 major
tournament victories heading into the 2019 season, only four behind tying the great Jack Nicklaus.
