WAYNE GRETZKY

The date was December 30, 1981 and a young Wayne Gretzky scored his 50th goal in just the 39th game of the season.
The previous mark was 50 goals in 50 games which is a rare achievement in the NHL. By the 50th game of the 1981-82 season Gretzky recorded 61 goals.
That season he finished with 92 goals and went on to accomplish the feat of 50 goals in 50 games in two more seasons with the Oilers. In the 1984-85 season,
Gretzky's 50th goal came on his 24th birthday in a 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gretzky has inked his signature and inscribed "50 goals in 39 games" in black pen.
