For my big paintings, I often make studies. In "Miles To Go," I wanted a black wolf,
which I had never painted before. So before getting into the colours, I did several
pencil sketches in different positions to study the expression of the black wolf. This
one looked quite good and I could not resist the temptation to make it into a
very detailed pencil drawing.
