When he was dominating basketball and the entire sports landscape in the 1980s
and early ’90s, Michael Jordan transcended sports and became a cultural icon.
Following his third consecutive NBA Finals championship with the Bulls,
Jordan retired from basketball to pursue a baseball career. In one year of professional
baseball (one season at Double-A and one season in the Arizona Fall League),
he didn’t put up extraordinary numbers. However, considering he played in a
pitcher-friendly park with the Birmingham Bulls and was competing with guys who had spent
their entire lives playing baseball, his numbers were impressive.
In that full minor league season, he hit .202 with three home runs and stole 30 bases.
After 13 years of being the best basketball player in the world, Jordan more than
held his own against big league caliber players. To commemorate his baseball career,
