" DOMINION POWER " 195 s/n Giclee Canvas 18" x 24" $375 This release is a rare collaboration of two artists – Len Krenzler and Robert Landry - combining their strengths to achieve the best of both worlds, ail paint and digital art combined. The Canadian Pacific Railway T1B Selkirk number 5920 is portrayed here in her element. Designed as a mountain engine with unmatched power, the "Selkirk" was a magnificent locomotive. With ten 63" drive wheels and the boiler at 285psi it provided up to 76,000 pounds of tractive effort and was the most powerful steam engine in regular use with the CPR. With a distinguished career, this locomotive assisted Princess Elizabeth over the steep Rocky Mountain grades on her October 1951 tour. Built in 1938 this T1B Selkirk weighed 731,000 pounds and could pull a 1000 ton train over steep mountain grades. In the late 1950's they were transferred to prairie duty between Calgary and Lethbridge and could pull a 5000 ton train. Sadly, no T1B's were preserved. A similar model T1C is on display at the gate to Heritage Park in Calgary. In this powerful piece, Selkirk 5920 with the "Dominion" train is just hitting her stride pulling out of Banff under full throttle on a clear crisp mountain evening. The unique and spectacular Mount Rundle is her backdrop. When viewing this scene filled with action and spectacular scenery, one can smell the fresh mountain air and feel the tremendous power of the steam engine thunder by. Regular editions are signed by Ernie Ottwell, Selkirk Engineer - BC Region.
